Using a Timebox Shared Journal for Family Memories

Timebox shared journals enable groups of people, whether family, friends, professionals, clients or traveling companions, to collaborate and co-edit their photos, videos and notes.

Here’s an example of how Timebox is being used to organize, edit and share years of scanned family photos.

I’m not exactly sure how this happened but I ended up with 1000s of unorganized, multi-generational family photos going back to the early 1900s. Some of the photos have dates printed on them, some have names on the front, some have names and dates on the back and some don’t have anything. i know who most of the people are but not where the photos were taken or when. 

I've scanned lots of the photos so far and they appear in Timebox on the date they were scanned - a bit messy. However, I have 6 siblings and 2 parents who have been invited to view, edit and organize all the photos. All of us can add notes and  captions, move the photos around, add locations, make movies and print any of the photos as individual prints, hardcover books and other gifts.

My hope is that my mom who knows the most about the photos will add her memories. By the way, in her mid-eighties my mom has an iPhone and iPad, reads ebooks, texts and is totally tech-enabled! Go Mom!

As time allows I’m adding the information from the photos to Timebox. I’m also trying to organize the photos by date and location. 

So far so good…

Using a Timebox Shared Journal as a Portfolio

My brother Steve’s construction company is building a new solar home in Durango, Colorado. Every few days, Steve takes some photos of the construction. Lately he's been using Timebox to add notes and details about the photos and the status of the project. 

Steve has created a Timebox shared journal that he can use to keep the clients of his latest project up-to-date on the progress of their new home. Unlike social networks like Facebook, Timebox shared journals are completely private: you own and keep all your full fidelity photos and text in your own secure iCloud storage. If any of the invited participants are not iOS users, there is a also a Timebox web app for them to view the shared journal.
