Easily Add End Credits to Your Movie

Len Kawell January 5, 2024

Movie Maker 3D makes it easy to add professional-looking scrolling end credits to your movie.

To add credits to your movie all you need to do is add a Text Block after the last video or still photo shot in your movie story and enter the text of your credits. If the text is long enough that it doesn’t fit on the screen all at once, it will automatically scroll. You can add blank lines before and after the text to ensure that it will scroll if you only have a few lines of credits.

The text in a text block is center-justified when it’s displayed in a movie. The text is also displayed on a grayed-out version of the last frame of the shot so it’s easier to read. The amount of time that the text is displayed is automatically calculated based on the “typical reading time” of the text.

The steps to make scrolling credits are:

  1. Open the story containing the shots for your movie using the View Story button in the Shots List or via the All Stories entry in the Project Contents sidebar. If your movie is composed of multiple stories, open the last story.

  2. Tap the Edit button to edit, scroll to the last video shot in the story, then long-press on iOS or shift-click (macOS) to show the pop-up menu, then choose Add Text Block.

  3. Tap or click in the new text block (Add notes or details) and enter your credit text. Add a few (10-20) blank lines before and after the text to make it always scroll.

  4. Tap the Done button to save your edits and then tap Preview Movie to see the results. If it’s not quite what you want, you can easily re-edit and re-preview the movie to change things.

Pro tip: If you’d like to have special music playing while the credits roll, make a separate story for the credits, set the story date so it will be composed after the other story or stories, when you edit the credits story tap the More (…) button and choose Movie Music to add a music file to be played for the credits story. Then from the All Stories page, tap the check mark on the desired movie story or stories plus the credits story and choose Preview Movie to compose the movie with the credits.
